7 and 1/2 lifelong learning habits

The hardest thing for me to do is play. So much of the time I am learning for my personal and professional life that I don't play. I do think I have developed the confidence to be an effective lifetime learner. I love learning new things especially in the field of technology. I am even participating in this when I don't need the credit.

And such is the mark of a life-long learner - continuing to study just because you WANT to know for yourself. Good job! - Lesa

I TOTALLY agree, Kay! I said the same thing: play is tough for me. I was a well-trained machine in school, a model student who looked up the vocab words I didn't know and did all the extra credit assignments. Now as an adult, I'm trying to keep myself sane by trying to RELAX a little and enjoy just BEING instead of always DOING. My worth is not solely determined by how much I cross off my "to do" list each day, but I often use that measuring stick (much to my own detriment!) Willingness to play means willingness to accept failures as part of the practice, willingness to get off task, willingness to be inefficient. I think that's where true creativity lies...
